Home & School Association


The purpose of the Home and School Association (HSA) is to enhance and support the mission of Sacred Heart School by fostering communication and pursuing time and talent to strengthen the school and promote a sense of community. HSA coordinates parental support through social and volunteer activities and fundraisers. All parents/guardians automatically become members of HSA, along with Sacred Heart’s faculty and administration.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings of the Home and School Association are held the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the school faculty room. New officers are elected each May at the monthly meeting.


HSA-Sponsored Activities and Fundraisers

Your assistance with or participation in HSA-sponsored activities and fundraisers may be applied to the service hours required under Sacred Heart’s Family Commitment Plan.


Book Fairs

Coordinate, set up, and run the Book Fair—a twice yearly exhibit of books for students and their families to purchase. Duties include helping students fill out “wish lists,” selecting books, and working as a cashier.

Box Tops for Education

Collect, count, and collate specially marked box tops from General Mills products for cash refunds that are paid directly to the school and used for educational purchases.

Catholic Schools Week

Plan and run activities that celebrate and promote our school; traditionally during the last week in January.

Santa's Workshop

Buy and organize items for students to purchase as Christmas gifts for family; help students with their shopping.

Field Day

Plan activities for students to participate in during this half-day event held at the end of the school year. Help run the activity stations.

Labels for Education

Collect, trim, count, and collate labels and UPC proofs of purchase from Campbell Soup Company products, redeemable for the purchase of educational equipment and supplies for the school.

Marianna’s Hoagie/Pizza Sales

Distribute flyers and order forms, complete paperwork for total order. Sort and distribute orders on the day of delivery. You will earn a Tuition Dollars credit of $.50 per item you sell, applicable toward your child’s tuition.

Family Fun Day at Del Grosso’s

Contact the amusement/water park about scheduling a day of fun for SHS families at the end of the school year. Make copies of the flyer/ticket sales.

Field Trips

Help coordinate and chaperone various age-appropriate, teacher-recommended educational field trips. Examples include our annual farm tour (a district-wide activity), a visit to the Mifflin-Juniata Career and Technology Center, a tour of our state capitol building in Harrisburg, and a trip to Penn State’s Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center in Petersburg, PA.

Scrip Sales

Buy gift cards from SHS, usable at nearly 400 nationwide stores, and retailers will give back a percentage of sales to the school. Several sales are held during the school year.


Create the school’s annual yearbook. Knowledge of word processing is helpful but not required.

Back-to-School Night

Make copies, stuff folders, and set up food and information tables for this annual September event that brings SHS families together and informs parents about the school and the academic year.

Cheesecake Sales

Distribute flyers and order forms, complete paperwork for total order, and fax to company on designated date. Sort and distribute orders on the day of delivery. You will earn a Tuition Dollars credit of 1% of your sales, applicable toward your child’s tuition.
